THE AWARDS

The Financial Literacy Excellence (Filex) Awards honour and celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations whose activities have delivered impact or innovation in the important work of ensuring that everyone in Nigeria has the knowledge and confidence to make sound financial decisions and engage effectively with financial institutions.

 

The Awards, the first recognition platform of its type  for financial literacy in Nigeria, debuted in 2015  and it now runs annually with the selection of winners being the responsibility of the independent Filex Awards Committee. 

Award for Organizations:

 

  • Corporate Achievement Award. This is awarded annually in two categories to a financial institution and a non-financial institution for a financial literacy activity with proven results.

  • Innovation Award. This is awarded for the use of technology in an invention, design, model or resource with the  potential for or proven impact or results in promoting financial literacy.

Award for an Individual:

 

  • Consumer Champion Award.  This is awarded annually for outstanding achievements by an individual in promoting financial literacy.

The decision of the judges is final.

GUIDELINES

WHO CAN ENTER?
  • For the Corporate Achievement Award, a Nigerian-registered business, company, social enterprise or nonprofit/non-governmental organization.​

  • For the Innovation Award, a Nigerian-registered business, company, social enterprise or nonprofit/non-governmental organization.

  • For the Consumer Champion Award, a Nigerian citizen or an individual resident in Nigeria.

HOW DO I ENTER?
  • The Awards are free to enter. 

 

 

  • Self-nominations are permitted.

 

  • The nomination must be for a specific service, product, programme or resource about financial literacy. In the case of the Consumer Champion Award, it can also be for an activity addressing the interests, concerns, rights or entitlements of financial consumers in Nigeria.

TIMELINE
2018 AWARDS

  • 1 March 2018: Nominations open online at 12.00 midnight West Africa time (WAT).

 

  • 30 October 2018: Nominations will remain open until 12.00 midnight West Africa time (WAT).

 

  • 1 November 2018: From this date, shortlisted organisations and individuals are notified and verification of evidence in support of the nominated activity commences.

  • 5 December 2018: Announcement of 2018 Filex Awards winners.
